The BETS and BITS teams have been busy upgrading the Moodle installation from 3.11 to 5.1.6.
The upgraded version has been enabled for instructor access for 2026-2027-fall, and all seems well so far… 😅
The new URL / link of the Bilkent Moodle for departmental courses is https://moodle.bilkent.edu.tr/current. For PREP it is https://prep-moodle.bilkent.edu.tr/current
These sites are permanent Moodle installations and these links will always be the same from now on. The advantage of a permanent URL is that we can easily integrate external services with the site.
The new Moodle version looks quite different, but don’t worry: the familiar Moodle tools are all still there. To help orient teachers, this site includes a short introduction to Moodle 5.1 and its new layout and features.
Perhaps the trendiest new development is that Moodle 5.1 also allows integration of AI providers such as Azure, DeepSeek, Ollama and OpenAI.
