Changing the Moodle Theme

It is possible to change the theme of the Moodle pages that you use. Currently the default theme is “Edwiser RemUI” theme. The name of the classic Moodle theme is “Clean theme”.

Users cannot change their themes if the instructor has selected “Enforce Theme” in the course settings.

To change the theme you experience while using Moodle:

  1. Logon to Moodle;
  2. Click your profile picture at the top;
  3. Click “Preferences”;
  4. Click “Edit Profile”, scroll down to “Preferred Theme” and choose the theme.

If you are a teacher and want to force your students to use a specific user interface theme for the course:

  1. Logon to Moodle;
  2. Click the course for which you want to enforce a language;
  3. Click “Edit Settings” on the wheel at the top right (location might vary depending on your theme);
  4. Scroll down and expand “Appearance” tab;
  5. Choose the theme that you want to enforce.
