This is a Moodle bug update 🪲
After the recent upgrade, course section groups were no longer being automatically created in combined (“meta”) courses. Happily, the problem is now fixed.
Section groups are visible again in combined courses under Participants > Enrolled Users > Groups. You can also restrict access to activities by section group again in Activity Settings > Restrict access > Group.
Thanks are due to the users who reported the problem and the BITS devs for getting it working again 🙏
