BETS message – 2024-2025 FALL Moodle – now available!

Dear Bilkent faculty,

The 2024-2025 Spring Moodle service is available as of 6/9/24. You can now create and combine your courses via the AIRS service.

Moodles from previous semesters can now be accessed at our new archive, tutorials, and FAQ site, available via https://moodle.bilkent.edu.tr/

MOODLE @ BİLKENT NEWS

It’s been a very busy summer with Moodle at BETS and BCC.

Most importantly, the BCC team has now dedicated a whole physical machine to run all current and previous Moodles. We should all enjoy increased Moodle performance this semester and more frequent version updates in the near future.

Thanks go to our BETS sysadmin Hidayet Doğan and Seyit Koçberber’s team at the BCC whose efforts keep Moodle running for all Bilkenters.

Other news…

1. A Moodle 4 installation was used to support teaching in the Bilkent Yaz Kampı 2024. We hope to upgrade all Moodles from 3.n to 4.7 Long Term Support version after its release this October.
2. The Bilkent Moodle archive, tutorials and FAQ sites have all moved to an updated WordPress site here: https://tutorial.bilkent.edu.tr/ (and via https://moodle.bilkent.edu.tr/). Many thanks to Ahmet Göktaş and his team at BCC for supporting BETS with this.
3. The security of the general purposes Moodle (https://gen3moodle.bilkent.edu.tr/ a.k.a. genmoodle) has been enhanced. Users can now only self-register with functioning Bilkent emails, and account requests must be approved by an admin. The system will also periodically remind users to set a strong password.
4. The various Moodle homepages now feature a QR code of the URL to easily onboard students using phones and the Moodle app.
