Tunitin’s AI Writing Detection feature is a plug-in of the Turnitin Originality Check module, which is provided by ULAKBİM to all universities in Türkiye under a national license.
N.b., Please remember that the output of all such “AI writing detection” algorithms is probabilistic and not conclusive and should be considered only in combination with other data about the student and their submission and all relevant academic and institutional policies (e.g., the security, privacy, and bias risks of GenAI tools outlined in the “Guidelines for the Use of GenAI Tools at Bilkent” may also apply to these detection algorithms, as this article also suggests). Even Turnitin advise that detection algorithm outputs do not in themselves constitute a determination of academic misconduct, emphasizing that their own AI Writing Detection feature “should not be used as a sole basis for action or a definitive grading measure by instructors”.
